How do you review?

Choosing a product and writing a review that's useful requires loads of work. But hey, that's what we’re here for. Find out more about what makes a Best Buys 4 Baby review.

Feature - How Do You Review?

We find it
We are always on the hunt for new and innovative products and haunt our local baby stores, baby shows, hassle sales reps and scour the internet to find out what’s happening in the world of baby gear.

We choose it
To make it into a Best Buys review a product has to be a combination of:

  • well designed
  • functional
  • value for money (not necessarily the cheapest or most expensive, but delivers bang for your buck)
  • offers something new and/or different to parents
  • looks and/or feels great
  • a best-seller or parent favourite

Wherever we can we support Aussie designed and made products, environmentally sound production, small family businesses and outstanding design.

We research it
If there's something worth knowing about a product we'll tell you. We find every bit of information available and when we have a tricky question we go straight to the source.

We try it
Wherever possible we get hold of a product and put it through its paces. Our group of parent testers are always keen to give something new a go.

My little guy is so used to being the #1 tester he climbs straight into any old pram loitering around.

We ask you
If some strange woman stops you in the street and asks you how you like your Strider, chances are it's me! We are always asking parents what they love and hate about their baby gear.

We write it
Pulling together all the information for a comprehensive review can take up to a day so it's a labour of love.

We rate it
The rating is based on a combination of function, price, quality and looks. There’s no scientific methodology, we decide 'on balance'.

Ratings are designed to be considered in conjunction with the information provided in the review. A product may rate much higher for you because of your individual needs.

  • 10 is an overall stand out baby product in terms of function, design and value
  • 9 is one of the best options in that product category
  • 7 & 8 is a great product, especially if you need it for a specific purpose
  • 5 & 6 is a good option to consider if you need the product for a specific purpose
  • 4 and under means you can do better for your money so shop around

Some product categories may not have many products rating 10 due to a higher level of personal preference, (i.e. nappy bags), or extensive range of combination of functions (i.e. prams).

Other categories may have more products than usual rating 10 due to the fact that we only review products in that category if they rate highly in terms of function, design and value (i.e. nursery décor).

We ask you to review it too
We love it when you have your say so please do. We aren’t always right or know everything so if you disagree shoot us down in a ball of flames. If you do agree make us feel special by letting us know.

BB4B Buying Tip

Trust your instincts in choosing the best baby products to suit your lifestyle. As long as you understand the pros and cons, if you love that bunny ear style handled pram and think it’s best for you, go for it.

Remember you can always sell on anything that doesn’t work for you.

BB4B Value Tip

You'll read this over and over again on Best Buys, if you have limited budget save your money for the products you are going to use the most over a longer period of time.
