City 2 Surf team

Hi, Susan here, from Agoo. With the help of Kellie and Suzanne from Mountain Buggy™, I completed the 14km City to Surf yesterday in an incredibly slow time of around 3 hours 15 minutes. We were having too much fun to go any faster! It was a truly fantastic day. The weather was perfect, the company wonderful, and the atmosphere was amazing.

We surprised 50 people along the way, mostly Mums with prams, by giving them a Mountain Buggy™ nappy bag as a gift. The smiles and reactions of shock and pleasure were priceless.

Adding to our pleasure is the knowledge that we have raised over $3500 for Telstra Childflight so far. I received a lovely call from Childflight this morning saying we had in fact met our $5000 target, as other fundraisers joined in, inspired by our actions and together we met the goal. What an incredible feeling. I wanted to repay the service for saving my daughter’s life and it feels incredible to know that our team did that together. Childflight also felt the awareness and exposure we created was priceless, and it topped off an incredible experience.

The terrain™ buggies we took along for the ride were incredible. I managed to mount a curb unexpectedly, too busy checking out the crowd, and the buggy didn’t miss a beat, overturn or even hiccup! Talk about an all terrain vehicle!. It was a joy to run with, and it wasn’t even a struggle to push up HeartBreak Hill! The insulated drink holders were a real hit yesterday too, and we still had icy cold water at the end, almost 5 hours after setting off for the day. I want one of these, I only wish I could have entered the competition.

We are a little sore and sorry today, but not too much. And every small pain reminds us what a special thing we achieved yesterday. I think my face hurts the most from all the smiling!
