New Bugaboo Bee Plus around the corner

Bugaboo will be launching a new Bee

Hush, hush and on the QT, it's not made it to the media yet but Bugaboo are about to announce the launch of the redesigned Bugaboo Bee Plus.

So what was wrong with the old one? Well … as much as I love the mobility of my Bee after three replacement chassis due to brake problems and my son about the burst out of the canopy at 2.5 years, I feel I haven’t quite got the value I expected from my ‘investment’.

The new Bee Plus will better accommodate larger children with an adjustable hood and seat unit and a slightly wider profile. There is a new fold action and the fold size will be flatter.

It will still have the same Bee look but minus the wings and some of the hardware. Not to metion the snazzy new star style wheels.

Like the Cameleon you will be able to customise the hood and the seat unit will be easier to remove and reverse. A universal style footmuff will now fit all Bugaboos.

Don’t hold your breath though, the new Bee won’t be available in Australia until summer 2010 and you can expect a price increase (currently $100.00 US).

Any idea if it will be able to accommodate any of the baby car restraints currently on the market in Australia (e.g. Peg Perego)?

I do know that the newly designed chassis will be able to accommodate more car seat options but none that are available in Australia. No doubt we will learn more closer to the Aussie release date. I'll update if I hear anything.

Thank you for posting info about the new Bugaboo Plus! Have checked Bugaboo's website and wondering why would it take so long before it reaches Australia? Am keen to get one ASAP and have even considered having one ordered from New York, USA from www.pishposhbaby.com via personal shopper www.shopgopher.com as they are already starting to accept pre-orders by end of April 2010. However, am not sure how this would affect warranty details (plus additional costs for shipping!). Would appreciate your thoughts / advice how to get one sooner than the official Australia release date?

Hi Vanessa,

I did further research and emailed Bugaboo Australia and got a reply from the country manager for Australia & New Zealand and mentioned that

"Australia is launching Winter 2010. We do not have an excat ETA but we are looking around July. Europe and USA has just launched ,so we are due to follow in the next couple of months. You will be able to pre order in the next few weeks."

and emailed further that
"The Australian Bee has a red brake which in now mandatory in AUS . Please do not buy strollers overseas as we will not be able to help you if something goes wrong as they are not covered under Australian Law."

I hope this helps though. Bugaboo's on Twitter and Facebook btw.

BTW word on the street is that Maxi Cosi is finally coming to Australia. I'd be surprised if it wasn't compatible with the Bee.

And yes the red brake is what makes the difference in new stroller release dates here. However, we are a much smaller market as well so not a priority.

An official release date is due very soon.
