phil&teds promenade update

Remember the phil&teds promenade buggy I spied at the Kind + Jugend nursery trade fair a few months ago? Well the good news is it will available soon. Really, really soon. Here's an update.

I was fortunate enough to get another preview of the phil&teds promenade pram today. Those of you who commented on the original post that it looked and operated a lot like the Steelcraft Strider are spot on. There are a lot of similarities.

Where the phil&teds promenade differs, is in what phil&teds are calling lay flat beds. These are basically a seat unit that converts from seat to bed. The 'bed' mode is similar, but not strictly, a bassinet. It's unstructured and soft and can't be used as a bassinet independent of the buggy.

There are some advantages to these lay flat beds; you don't have to pay extra for a bassinet, they are great for that in-between time when your child wants to sit in a seat but sleep in a bassinet, but most importantly, it allows the promonade to accommodate twin infants. (There is also the standard recline feature in seat mode.)

Because the 'beds' are shallow phil&teds recommend that you to always use the harness, this also allows you to convert the seat safely when your child is in it. You can go from seat to bed quickly & smoothly if you want to.

For a large pram, the promenade looks quite smart and will only be available in black. Coloured liners will be available next year.

The promenade will be available at selected phil&teds stockists just before Christmas. It's priced at $999, with the second seat priced at $169.

Car seat adaptors for the Safe-n-Sound Unity & Maxi Cosi will be available next year in additional to a sway of accessories.
