Design

The Arm's Reach Co-Sleeper design is basically a little soft bassinet with a drop down side which is left open next to your bed so that your baby can co-sleep with you.

The Co-Sleepers come in a wide range of colours and styles from the more basic practical model to some more traditional baby styles. They also come in varying sizes.

Features

This bassinet features a mattress with protector, sheet and carry bag.

It has two wheels to make moving it around the house easier (when in bassinet mode) and several pockets and storage spaces for changing necessities and linen.

Performance

The real point of differentiation for this bassinet is the comfort factor of having your baby right next to you but providing it with its own, protected, space. This bassinet allows you a lower SIDS risk co-sleeping option.

It is also a great option for newborn twins, babies with special needs such as premmies and mums who have had a caesarean section.

It can be used as a stand alone bassinet and is portable so you can take it to Nanna's for an overnight visit.

Drawbacks

Setting up and collapsing this bassinet is difficult and you need to read the instructions and fiddle faddle around a bit.

Setting it up next to your bed requires two people, preferably not sleepwalking, so try to have it all ready to go before your baby is born.

The mattress is similar to a travel cot, i.e. hard and stiff so you might want to invest in a soft fitted sheet or pillow case.

Conclusion

Buying a bassinet for your new baby is an emotional purchase so keep in mind the fact that it only has 6 months of use.

The Arm's Reach Co-Sleeper is a safer co-sleeping arrangement and mums love being able to tend to their baby in the night without having to leave their warm beds.

Co-Sleepers are significantly less expensive in the US and UK and they are portable so if you have a friend going there ...

You can never do enough to lower you baby’s risk of SIDS. Find more information on the SIDS and Kids website and support Red Nose Day every year.
