Design and Features
The Avent Isis iQ DUO is pretty much as top of the range as you can get in breastpumps and it comes with everything you could need and then some.
The basic pump consists of a funnel that sits over your boob, a mechanical vacuum and a bottle base for collecting the breast milk. The funnel has a let down cushion inside which encourages more milk and is an extra bit comfy for mum. As you would expect there are two pumps and you can use them in single or multiple mode.
In addition it comes with a power adapter, insulated carry bag, manual pump parts, travel case for teats, two insulated carriers to keep milk cool, eight freezable gel packs, two drawstring bags to keep your bottles covered in the fridge and a quick start DVD.
Performance and Drawbacks
The iQ DUO pumps milk alright. The question is one boob or two?
It is gentle on ye olde bosoms which every mum appreciates and the motor is strong so it collects lots of milk, however, it’s not as efficient as collecting the milk as it could be as some runs off into other parts of the pump.
The memory sets automatically after a couple of manual pumps and after that one little button controls everything. You've got to set it up first and that can take some time and fussing about. It has so many parts it’s easy to lose one or leave it behind at home.
This pump is set up for discreetness which is great if you have to use it at work. The motor stays in the bag and you have two discreet options to store your milk in the fridge (God forbid anyone accidentally used it in their coffee!).
Be warned, this breastpump is top heavy and milk can be spilled. All mums are allowed to cry over that!
Conclusion
Lots of pluses, some minuses. Some mums may find the need of a degree to set it up off-putting, especially if they need to use it at night.
