Design and Features
The Bugaboo Wheeled Board is a toddler board for your pram. It allows parents to wheel their toddler or pre-schooler behind their Bugaboo pram or stroller.
It features a single swivel wheel at the back and an elastic operated folding mechanism.
The Bugaboo Wheeled Board can accommodate a toddler or pre-schooler up to 20kgs.
Performance and Drawbacks
The Bugaboo Wheeled Board is very easy to attach to your Bugaboo pram. It comes with two set of adapters, one set for the Cameleon and one set for the Bee. You simply snap the connectors to the rear axle of your pram. The wheeled board just clips on and off the adapters. The fiddliest bit is attaching the elastic for the automatic fold but it will only take a minute.
We road tested our Wheeled Board with a Bee and found that it fit perfectly between the back of the pram & the handle. The maneuverability of the Bee with the Wheeled Board was impressive, particularly considering we had two on board. The single swivel wheel is unique to the Bugaboo Wheeled Board and it works very effectively.
Also unique is the elastic operated fold. This is particularly useful, as soon as you toddler steps off the Wheel Board it automatically folds neatly into the back of the pram.
The board itself is a good size; comfortably wide for your child so they can balance on it. Our toddler tester loved using the Wheeled Board, it was a little like extreme stroller riding. The did have to hold onto the handlebars behind them which looked a little awkward from where I was standing but we didn't have any complaints.
We would advise avoiding curbs and steps when using the Bugaboo Wheeled Board. It's not made to go up and down steps. If you are crossing a road that doesn't have ramps, get your child to jump off and hold their hand while crossing the road. This is the case with all wheeled or toddler boards.
The wheeled board does reduce room for the parent pusher, particularly their stride. This happens with all wheeled or toddler boards and is a drawback of using one over a double or twin pram.
Over time I would imagine the elastic folding mechanism would wear. Although all components of the Bugaboo Wheeled Board are great quality it's only to be expected. We'll ask our tester family to report back on that one for us.
I would also imagine that if you had an overactive toddler (aren't they all!) it could get very annoying if they wanted to jump on and off all the time. You might want to consider taking the elastic folding mechanism off.
Conclusion
It's a shame that Bugaboo only make their Wheeled Boards to fit Bugaboo prams. It is a really well designed product that works very effectively.
