Design and Features
The IKEA Antilop high chair is very basic with a plain plastic seat on top of four steel legs. It features a safety belt and leg divider to keep your baby safe. It comes in red, white and blue.
For an additional $10.00 you can buy a tray (only comes in white), for $9.95 you can get a colourful Barnslig supporting pillow or you can get the easy to clean inflatable version, the Stadig also at $9.95.
Performance and Drawbacks
The Antilop comes in two boxes and is extremely easy to assemble which means you can disassemble it and put it away when not in use. The chair is the easiest I have found to keep clean, however, there is a gap between the tray and your baby which allows food to drop onto your baby's lap.
There is no padding under your baby's bottom but they don't seem to mind much. Also means no padding getting mushed by food every time the high chair is used.
The tray, if you buy one, is small but adequate and this high chair has no footrest.
STOP PRESS: Best Buys member Jane has alerted us to a stability problem with the Antilop. Her 9 month old can topple the chair by vigorous rocking. Please keep this in mind when considering the Antilop and we will investigate and amend the review with our findings. Thanks Jane for taking the time to alert us to this problem.
Conclusion
For value for money you can't beat the Antilop but if you want a bit more style and comfort check out the Inglesina Club Highchair.
