Design and Features

The IKEA cot & bed quit and pillow case sets come in a large range of boys, girls and unisex designs. You get a cot sized quilt cover and one infant sized pillow case per cot set or a single sized quilt cover and standard sized pillow case per bed set.

Designs match with a variety of other IKEA textiles and room accessories including blankets, curtains, rugs & carpets, insect nets, wall decals and fabrics by the meter.

Plain fitted sheets are also available separately.

Performance and Drawbacks

IKEA cot & bed quilt and pillow case sets are 100% cotton and quite soft and comfy for a cot, toddler bed or child's bed.

They come in a huge range of designs from basic stripes and patterns to lots of baby & child friendly designs. IKEA use many of the same colourways across their kids' textiles range so it's easy to mix & match linen with a single IKEA nursery theme.

IKEA doesn't advise the thread count, but the cot & bed sets are the pretty average density you'd expect for budget to medium quality bed linen.

The biggest drawback of the IKEA cot & bed quilt and pillow case sets is the European style. For babies under 1, neither pillows or quilts are considered safe sleeping options. For toddlers sleeping in a toddler bed the cot quilt covers are great but a baby sized pillow cover doesn't really work for a child who wants a larger pillow.

For children sleeping in a single bed the bed sets are great.

The quilt covers don't have press studs at the bottom. At first I thought this was odd but it doesn't really seem to make much difference. However, again, I'd be cautious using them for an infants bed.

We've got a couple of sets in circulation at the moment. We'll let you know how they wash & wear over time.

Conclusion

IKEA cot & bed quilt and pillow case sets tick all the right boxes in terms of design and price. But a set that was better suited to Australian sleeping conditions, or even better, met our safe sleeping guidelines would be welcome.

It's always great to keep abreast of the SIDS and Kids safe sleeping guidelines to ensure a safe sleeping environment for your baby.
