Design and Features
The Laptop Lunch Bento Box 2.0 is a 9 x 7" lunch box and bottle which comes in its own carry bag.
It includes the laptop lunch box (which contains two large containers, two smaller containers, a condiment/dip container and stainless steel spoon and fork), a 12oz drink bottle, carry case with name tag and a Laptop Lunch User's Guide which contains all sorts of tips for introducing and encouraging healthy eating for kids and lots of recipes.
The bag is made from recycled polypropylene fabric and comes with an over the shoulder strap and carry handles. It is free of PVC, BPA, phthalates and lead.
It comes in berry, pink passion, purple party colours as well as alien and flower prints.
Performance and Drawbacks
When they call this lunch box a 'system' they really mean it, the Laptop Lunch Bento has a place for everything. Sandwiches, noodles, salad, fruit, yoghurt, nuts, dips, every healthy lunch option in every combination you can imagine will fit somewhere in this box.
The insulated bag will keep all your goodies fresh, if you need to heat up lunch for your child the containers (not lids) are microwavable.
It's quite a neat size considering all the goodies you can squeeze inside. It will comfortably fit into a school bag, back pack, in your baby bag or just sling it over your child's shoulders.
When lunch time comes around your child can balance the lunch box on their lap, pop the lid and viola lunch is ready to be eaten.
The whole Bento system is great quality. The plastic is thick and durable, the fork and spoon are a good size and nice weight, the insulated carry case is strong and thick. The Laptop Lunch User's Guide is full of all sorts of useful information and good tips on getting the most out of your lunch box.
The plastic components of the Bento System can be popped in the top tray of the dishwasher, the bag can be wiped down with a damp cloth.
You can purchase spare parts for the Bento System so you can choose different container configurations and/or replace bits and bobs that get lost in 'the wash". You can also buy a reusable & biodegradable cold pack that fits inside the carry case.
The biggest drawback of the Laptop Lunchbox Bento System is that the drink bottle is not suitable for under 3s and can not be frozen. The good news is that locally made (NZ) Sistema drink bottles fit comfortably in the bottle space and are freezable, suitable for toddlers and inexpensive.
Conclusion
The Laptop Lunch Bento System 2.0 is expensive for a lunch box if you compare the price to something you might buy at the supermarket. However, if you make a commitment to using it regularly you will be rewarded with a hard wearing, well designed product that caters to your child's every healthy eating need.
Availability of Laptop Lunch Bento Systems are limited, you can find a good range at Baby Grow Safe.
