Review

The Maclaren 4 Seasons has all the benefits of the Maclaren Ryder combined with the best looking design a Maclaren pram can offer.

Design

The colour combo of the 4 Seasons pram looks good and it comes with three reversible pram liners and a plush foot muff for winter giving it, surprise surprise, a new look for every season.

The seat is made from durable and fade resistant material and the chassis is lightweight brushed aluminium. The seat liners and foot muff are very good quality and everything, including the seat itself, are fully washable.

Everything about this pram is sturdy and well made with quality materials. Maclaren have not skimped on anything with this pram. As with all umbrella style prams it is small and nifty.

Features

The pram has many features including comfortable padded handles, four recline positions, suspension, a UV protected window, expendable leg rest and a shoulder strap for carrying.

It only has a small basket and the hood does not extend far so if you spend a lot of time outdoors it may be wise to invest in a sun shade.

The seat is nice and comfy with the addition of the seat liners and the winter foot muff is particularly cosy.

Performance

The 4 Seasons rates well for manageability. It has lockable swivel wheels which help it handle more difficult surfaces such as grass and gravel well, however, the wheels and ride are not as good as the Maclaren Techno. You can push this pram with one hand if needed.

The seat is wide, offering more space for larger children but the pram itself is quite compact and fits into small spaces easily. The recline is an easy action and requires two hands.

The fold has to be one of the best on the market. A true one handed fold that takes five seconds. The folded pram is small and will fit into the boot of a small car.

It has two foot pedal brakes which have to pushed on separately which is annoying but they are easy to use.

Drawbacks

The biggest complaint about the 4 Seasons is that the 'flat' recline is not 100% flat and parents have been reluctant to use it for their newborns.

You should also be cautious that this pram can tip when empty.

Conclusion

The popularity of Maclaren prams speaks for itself. Look around on the street and you will see them everywhere.

The advantage of the 4 Seasons is really cosmetic and you are paying a premium for the fabric options. However, if this appeals to you then you will get everything you need to keep you happy.

The 4 Seasons is not as readily available as some other Maclaren models. Larger David Jones stores carry them.
