Introduction
The Mega Bloks Play 'n' Grow table is toddler sized play table that folds flat. It comes with 22 pieces including the table, structured building blocks and a little car with person.
When I first received our Mega Bloks Play 'n' Grow table I thought I might wait for a spangley new Mega Bloks product to review. However, once I saw our little product testers in action with the Play 'n' Grow Table I knew that sometimes the oldies hang around because they are really popular.
In use
The Mega Bloks Play 'n' Grow table came out of it's box 80% assembled. The legs were easy to attach; the kids did it themselves. As soon as the table was assembled it was all 'hands-on-deck' with our 1, 3 & 8 year old testers.
With the building blocks our testers created a variety of different types of structures including a large, multi-storied masterpiece. The table is big enough so the you can have two children around it playing independently or up to 4 'working' on a joint project.
When your children are finished playing all the peices fit inside the table for storage and the legs fold in and the table can be carried with a handy side handle.
The Play 'n' Grow table is still bulky but folded it will slide comfortably under a bed or out of the way against a wall.
There are two things I particularly like about Mega Bloks. The first is that they are a mid priced, mid quality toy. This means that they good enough (but not too good) to be played with outdoors, in the bath or paddle pool, in the sandpit or in the mud. All you need to do after an outdoor play is pop your Mega Bloks in the top of your dishwasher (except for those a with printed sticker on them!).
The second is that they last forever and kids of all ages love them. You'll get years of play from your Mega Bloks and you can add other Mega Blok sets if you wish.
Consider this
The Mega Bloks Play 'n' Grow table is sturdy for a active play but not sturdy enough for a plump toddler to climb on. Yet plump toddlers are pretty much going to love that challange. Our enthusiastic product tester (12 months) climbed up onto her Play 'n' Gro table 3 times. Although the drop from table to floor isn't great, your child would certainly get a fright if one of the folding legs collapsed.
Overall
Our little product testers were delighted with their Play 'n' Grow table and I'm confident they will have many years of play with it.
Mega Bloks are stocked at the bigger supermarket retailers and toys shops. I often see the range discounted by 20 or 25%, so you can make a good saving.
