Design and Features
The Milkbar is a little bean shaped pillow made to fit the contours of mum’s body. It's slightly elevated and wider at one end to accommodate your baby for feeding. It has a carry handle and you can buy extra pillow covers if needed.
The cover is cotton and the pillow is filled with polyester filling. It’s non allergenic, odourless and comes in three colour combinations, brown/sand, pink/sand and blue/sand.
It also comes in double trouble (twins) size which features an adjustable strap that goes around mum or dads waist to stabilise it and leave both arms free for feeding.
Performance and Drawbacks
The Milkbar is designed to reduce stress on your neck, back and arms during feeding by bringing your baby to the boob rather than the other way around. It's just the right height for a comfy feed on most chairs; you can even get in a bit of one-handed (web) surfing and email-checking while feeding if you wish. That's multi-tasking for you!
The elevated design is also great if you have a baby with reflux or other digestion problems as it lifts their head above their feet making them more comfortable feeding.
The cushion is nice and long so you should get at least six-months' use from it. It fits snugly and comfortably around your middle and protects your stomach area after a cesarean section.
It's well made and the cotton cover is nice, soft and cool in summer. The handle is nifty for carrying it around and/or hanging it out of the way.
Don’t cry over spilt milk, both the pillow case and filling are washable.
Conclusion
Using a pillow for feeding is an individual parent thing, some like it, others don’t. The Milkbar is well designed to suit its purpose.
