They feature a thick waxed cover, elastic closure, book mark, a little pocket behind the back cover and a section on everything pregnancy and baby that you could possibly need a record of.
Performance and Drawbacks
Mumentum Journals are designed to keep you on track. They have a section on your personal and medical details, appointments and pregnancy history, feeding schedules, finances, contacts, gift registry and so on. They also have a few uniquely clever sections so you can record prices on baby gear as you shop around, details on loaned baby gear and your favorite web sites.
These are nice quality products and a good size for you to slip into your hand or baby bag and carry around with you. Also they are a central place to store your all your pregnancy/baby information should an emergency occur; if necessary a family member or medical practitioner can pick up your Mumentum Journal and have all your relevant details and plans at their fingertips.
Design-wise these journals sit on the fence. They are neither too practical and functional looking or too ‘earth mother’ if you know what I mean. The hints on the inside of the section divisions are useful and I really like the pockets at the back; they are a great place to keep safe important things like ultrasound photos and keepsakes.
Beware though these journals aim to keep you organised and not stray, there’s not a lot of room to freelance. Also just as much as it can remind you of things you’ve done it can remind you of things you haven’t done so if you don’t need the pressure, don’t go there.
Conclusion
It really depends on your personal style whether or not these journals will appeal to you. If you’ve always been a ‘go with the flow’ kind of person they might not suit. However, if you feel you need some direction and grounding, these journals can help you achieve organisational nirvana.
Irrespective, there are some practical sections on pregnancy progress and appointments that are useful for every mum or mum-to-be so at their very reasonable price (which is cheaper if you buy 2 or more directly from Mumentum), they represent good value for money.
