Review

The Prima Pappa Diner is Peg Perego's very popular high-end high chair.

Design

The Prima Pappa Diner looks like one of those big clunky plastic high chairs because that's exactly what it is. The colours and patterns change seasonally and are a bit uninspiring but typical of what you expect of the 'cutesy' style of baby gear.

It is very well constructed and the base is sturdy.

Features

The Prima Pappa Diner features 7 position adjustable height, 4 position recline, a five point harness, four wheels and a two tier food and snack tray that can go in the dishwasher.

The seat is roomy and comfortable and offers lots of support for a smaller baby. It has a leg divider that is useful but the chair would be better if it could be removed when it is no longer needed.

Performance

The reclining seat means that not only can your baby eat in the chair but also take their bottle and nap if they feel comfortable enough. The multi-adjusting height allows your baby to sit at any level you are.

The recline action and tray are both very easy to use with one hand. It folds and stands on its own but the fold action can be tricky. The high chair itself is pretty bulky so not the best for small spaces.

Drawbacks

Do not underestimate how annoying it is to clean this highchair. It is so annoying that many parents (myself included) just give up and move onto something that just needs a wipe down after use.

You can forget putting the seat cushion through the wash, even though it may desperately need it, because it gets so water logged it takes forever to dry. Also the cushion cover cracks after a period of use.

The tray is high for a small baby and you may only see their little eyes peering at you from behind it. If you are concerned that this may be a problem for you give the shop model a test run before you buy.

Conclusion

I was so pleased that someone gave me this high chair so that I didn't feel guilty about giving up on it so quickly. It should really be a lot easier to keep clean at this price.

If you want a high chair with every mod con that's a pleasure to use try the Ingesina Zuma or Steelcraft Messina.
