The newly released vibe is phil&teds top of the range in-line pram with double option.
Design
For a double pram the vibe is amazingly sleek and sure to be a favourite with Dads. It’s larger than most of the phil&teds in-line range and is well constructed and solid. All of the components are well designed and made from quality materials.
The clever design allows for the toddler seat to be easily attached or removed from the front or back of the chassis depending on your needs.
Features
The vibe features a fully reclinable seat, using a strap and zip system, and a 3 level adjustable handle bar. The toddler seat (purchased separately) also has some recline (when used under the main seat) and both the main and toddler seats are comfortably padded.
The basket is a reasonable size but can be difficult to get to when the toddler seat is in use. The hood is large and can be adjusted up and down the frame to reflect the sun better and accommodate taller children.
The seat is made from a wetsuit type of material, is well padded and fully removable and washable. A bassinet 'the peanut' is also now available.
Performance
The vibe is light and easy to manoeuvre and can be pushed with one hand when needed. It is designed to be used in all terrains but has no suspension which can make a rough trip bumpy. The back wheel base is wider than the average phil&teds so you should consider this if you expect to use it shopping.
The vibe can be folded with the toddler seat on the front but requires two hands and multiple steps which can be complex. The pram has to be in the right position before being folded otherwise it is difficult to unfold and may get damaged. The folded pram is a large size and you should check it will fit in your boot before purchase.
The brake is located in the middle of the handle which makes it easy to use but also easy to accidentally engage causing the pram to jolt.
Drawbacks
Most accessories, particularly the tandem accessories, have to be purchased separately which is an additional cost. It doesn't even come with a single rain cover which is a bit slack for such an expensive pram.
The toddler seat is a bit on the small side and there is not a lot of room between the toddler seat and the standard seat when it is reclined so you should check this prior if you think this may be a problem for your toddler. When used above the main seat the toddler seat will scratch the chassis when being put on and taken off.
The locking mechanism for the fold can be difficult to use and scratches the chassis if not used properly.
Also there have been lots of complaints of the front wheel getting the wobbles and not being repaired effectively.
Conclusion
The vibe is a great option for a larger style tandem pram. Do your homework first to make sure it suits your needs. Also check out the other phil&teds models before you buy.
