The Protect A Bed Tencel Fitted Cot Mattress Protector is a larger sized fitted sheet style cot mattress protector. It's made from Tencel which is a natural, Eucalyptus fibre and features what Protect A Bed calls a Miracle Membrane which is a breathable, waterproof backing.

Performance and drawbacks
When I first took our sample Protect A Bed Tencel Fitted Cot Mattress Protector out of the packet it I thought there was no way it was waterproof, it's so lightweight and felt just like a normal fitted sheet. I had a look at the product information and noted it said 'Tencel is not designed for heavy absorption'. I went a-huh! and put it to the ultimate test, no I didn't wee on it!, I put it under a running tap. Well it passed the tap test with flying colours, I think I now have more confidence in the waterproofness of Tencel than Protect A Bed.
The Protect A Bed Tencel Fitted Cot Mattress Protector is nice and soft, it's designed to act both as a mattress protector and a cot top sheet. Being a natural fibre, Tencel is hypoallergenic and antibacterial, the Miracle Membrane is unique in that it both acts as a barrier to dust mites and mould but is breathable to keep your baby cool and comfortable.
Fitting the Protect A Bed Tencel Fitted Cot Mattress Protector is easy, the sides are deep to fit on any standard sized cot mattress. This is quite an important consideration when you are leaning into a cot trying to fit anything on a mattress.
Whether you use it as a top sheet or under a top sheet when your Protect A Bed Tencel Fitted Mattress Protector needs a clean just pop it into your machine on a cold cycle. The light weight fabrics dries quickly in the sun, however, if you need to you can pop it in the dryer. Don't iron it though, that would melt the membrane.

The only drawback I can find with with the Protect A Bed Tencel Fitted Cot Mattress Protector is that the membrane on the reverse puckers up when it gets wet. I've had experience with other membrane backed mattress protectors which have stretched and disintegrated over time. We are going to test out the Protect A Bed Tencel Fitted Cot Mattress Protect at home and we'll let you know how it wears over time. It's worth pointing out though, that this protector has a two year warranty.
