Design and Features
The Tetra Cot Pillow is a smaller sized pillow with a cotton cover and a tea tree flake filler.
Tetra also make a range of other sized pillows and cot mattresses.
Performance and Drawbacks
You may think that a pillow is a pillow is a pillow. But that’s not quite right, the Tetra Cot Pillow is a step ahead. Tea Tree bark is resistant to mold and bacteria, it naturally allows free air movement and Tetra products are 100% chemical free.
Tetra tea tree product are a smart choice for allergy and asthma sufferers.
Tea tree filled pillows are a bit like Japanese husk pillows and they rustle a little when you move about on them But like husk pillows they are very comfortable and your child won't notice the rustle after a little while.
The biggest drawback of the Tetra cot pillow is that you can't wash it which is not very practical (but the way of tea tree flakes). Some products say don't wash just to cover themselves but that's not the case with Tetra pillows. Our pillow really needed a clean after illness and although it went through the wash OK, the tea tree filling did not dry properly and went musty.
You can put a pillow protector on them but that really defeats the purpose of purchasing a breathable pillow. The best thing to do is use two cotton pillow covers to provide it with a bit of extra protection and if it your pillow really gets soiled throw it away and start again.
It's important to note that any pillow is not suitable for babies under 12 months old according to Sids and Kids safe sleeping guidelines.
Conclusion
Your baby has its head on a pillow for up to 15 hours a day, the Tetra cot pillow is a clean, natural and breathable option. Just be aware, though, it's likely you will replace a few before your child moves onto a big 'boy' or 'girl' pillow.
Tetra cot pillows are available in the baby section of Big W.
