Review

The Doubletake Tandem is Valco's version of a stadium style double pram.

Design

The Doubletake Tandem is a bit of a clunky looking pram. It's black, heavy looking and long, so very long. Forget colour ranges, forget funky. You are really choosing this pram for its function.

The construction is solid and the components are of a better quality than you might expect from a pram in this price range but it is a bit on the plasticy side.

Features

The Doubletake Tandem features recline for both seats, including a flat recline in the rear for an infant, and independent hood and recline action. It also has a snack tray on the front of the pram for your older child.

It has a large under seat basket with a clip in the back so you can get into it when the rear seat is reclined. The hoods are a reasonable size and the rear hood has a peek a boo window for sneaky peaks.

Performance

The reality is that longer prams are more difficult to steer. Dubbed 'the Limosine' by one mum, the Doubletake Tandem does pretty well over smooth surfaces. Forget more difficult surfaces or off-road, this pram is not designed for the great outdoors.

One of the benefits of a tandem pram over a double pram is the width of the seats and in the case of the Doubletake they are pretty roomy and comfy.

Surprisingly this pram is pretty easy to fold and the fold size is only marginally larger that a single pram of this style.

Drawbacks

It is possible to have a riot in your stadium because the child in the rear seat can kick the child in the front seat. A bit of pram etiquette may be required if you have a small child in the rear identifying a rare opportunity for revenge.

This pram comes with no rain cover. I know it is mainly suited to indoor use, however, it is likely that it will be used outdoors on occasion and rain does happen out there. There's just no good reason not to include one.

Conclusion

Before you buy a tandem pram make sure you investigate all the options available which accommodate two children and pick the one that best suits your lifestyle. For a shorter Stadium Style check out the Marco Sky L.

If you do decide on a tandem the Doubletake is a good value option.
