Design and Features

Vincent the Vain is written and illustrated by Sam Lloyd. It comes in a large square format board book with feely panels.

It is best suited to the 2 to 5 year old set but everyone in the family will enjoy Vincent's story.

Performance and Drawbacks

Well, hello and welcome, I'm Vincent, that's me.
The most gorgeous gorilla you'll ever see.
All of me's fabulous, but the bit I love best ...
is my gloriously hairy, furry chest!

Vincent is a gorilla bucking the current trend for man-scaping and reveling in his splendid black fur. Luckily for Vincent his friends love him for his personality and wit because a beautiful hairline does not last forever.

Vincent’s story is fun to read in rhyme and it has a nice gentle message about friendship. The illustrations are bold and colourful; I love Vincent's big broad grin.

The format of this book is really made for little hands, touch and feel panels of hair chest and the thick card pages make it nice and tactile.

Conclusion

Generally I'm not a fan of Sam Lloyd, some of her books I find a little on the puerile side, however, there's so much to like about Vincent, he really hits the funny bone.

You can find Vincent at some selected bookstores or online.
